Million Dollar Match Campaign

Over $345,756 has been pledged/collected towards the $500,000 goal which anonymous donors will match dollar for dollar up to $500,000!

After decades of prayers and careful planning, shovels will go into the ground early 2018 and our fundraising efforts must continue! We have been blessed with a unique opportunity to raise money twice as fast through a generous matching donation up to $500,000. Your pledge will be matched dollar for dollar to ensure no detail of what we have envisioned for God’s new home is left out because of financial constraints.

The donor matching campaign ends at the end of this year. You can make a donation on-line by clicking the link provided below or you can print out a Pledge Card through the link provided below. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to the future of our Church.

The goal of the Capital Campaign is to build a new Church Campus on our property on Beach Boulevard, just east of the intersection at Kernan Boulevard. Our new Byzantine Crucifix-form Church will meet the demands of our growing Community by providing a large sanctuary for worship services. Additionally, an administrative/education building along with a banquet hall will provide administrative spaces, kitchen, classrooms, museum, and social area for luncheons and banquets. The campus will also include an airnasium and athletic fields for sporting and outdoor activities and events, including our Greek Festival along with our Easter Picnic and other community events.

End of Year Giving Opportunity...

Just a reminder about just one great opportunity to make a charitable gift to the Church before the end of the year. If you are 70½ or older, you may be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover is a way you can support the Church and benefit this year.

In the past, Congress used to wait until December to extend the law that allows those over the age 70½ to make a tax free donation of up to $100,000 from their IRA to a charity. Good news… a year ago Congress made this law permanent. The donation counts towards your required minimum distribution, but does not increase your income, which can be particularly helpful if you do not itemize deductions or if you're trying to stay below the Medicare "High Income" surcharge, or even if you're trying to make less of your social security benefit taxable.

The donation has to be made directly from your IRA to the charity and now that the law is permanent, most IRA administrators have simplified the process and can accommodate your request either by a standardized form or in some cases, may even give you check writing privileges.

We ask that you prayerfully consider how you would like to give to SJTD and as always, consult your financial advisor or tax planner. When you are ready to make the transfer, please contact George Stavros (Treasurer) at georgejstavros@gmail.com.
